Erika T. Vinculado, a grade VI pupil, made her way to the National Schools Press Conference last January 23-25, 2017 in Pagadian City, Zamboanga Del Sur with the theme Strengthening Freedom of Information through Campus Journalism. The event gathered 5, 102 delegates from all over the country.
The program was opened by the different government officials of the place and representatives from DepEd at Zamboanga Del Sur. The contest was held the following day, giving them one hour to write and finish their article.
“I felt nervous while writing my article but I’m happy that I have finished it”, said Erika. Among the 54 contestants only seven will be chosen to be awarded as winners.
Erika’s journey to the NSPC was a great battle of pen and paper. She won 4th place in the DSPC and 3rd place in the RSPC. Unfortunately, she didn’t make it to the top 7 in the NSPC.
“Being in the national is a big thing already, though Erika didn’t make it, we are still proud of her,” said Sir Joey Arroyo, the Grade School Principal.
