CSJR joins SO ano NA Capiz

SHS Grade 12, College Students and some faculty members attended the SO an NA Capiz at Gerry Roxas Foundation, Inc. Convention Hall last August 25, 2017.

SO ano NA Capiz is a defend democracies series forum sponsored by different organizations namely Knights of Democracy, Akbayan, Alliance of Concerned Ilonggos, United Capizenos Foundation, PPVR, The Coordinating Group, TSM, and The Force of Democracy.

The forum was augmented by three speakers: Congressman Garry Alejano, Mrs. Etha Rosales and Former Sec. Dingky Soleman. They were able to discuss various topics.

                   Cong. Garry Alejano discussed about Philippine sovereignty, foreign policy, and national security in whi9ch he talks about Duterte Foreign Policy, External and Internal Security of the Philippines. Etha Rosales a former Commission on Human Rights Chair, tackled about Coalition of Human Rights 101 where she tackled the PERAS and Victims of Extrajudicial Killing. Rosales ended with a question “Mga kabataan anong dpat gawin? Sapagkat maraming namatay na kabataaan sa panahon ng War on Drugs”. While former Sec. Dingky Soleman talks about Extrajudicial Killing.

Ms. Etha Rosales encouraged the participants to protect and respect each other with a saying “If we don’t have respect to each other then we will be treated inhuman. This is how important human right is”. Participants were given a chance to ask questions to the speakers through an open forum.

A letter from Senator Leila De Lima and Riza Hontiveros was read after the talk wherein Sen. De Lima discussed about Kian’s controversial case while Sen. Hontiveros talks about putting an end on Extrajudicial Killings.

The forum ended with an oath about protecting human rights and “Ang Bayan Ko” song was played. Indeed, Lasallians were challenged to re-evaluate their stand towards the government thus making them think to be responsive citizens of the country.
